How it works...
Print and online publishers and companies go online to www.journalistusa.com when they're looking for journalists. They
can access our directory of candidates by using our resume Search Engine, or they can post vacancies on our jobs board. We cover all journalistic grades in editorial and production.
Resume Searches
The vast majority of jobs are filled by employers searching the resume directory and contacting candidates directly. Employers perform cross-referenced resume searches (e.g. Features Writers who have worked on Travel who speak
fluent French...or Sub Editors who have
worked on daily local/regional newspapers and specialise in Industrial matters).
Alternatively, they can search very broadly (e.g. Researchers available during December 2001). Click here to see how employers search. (Please note that you
will not be able to view individual resumes unless you are a registered employer).
Jobs Board
We also have a jobs bulletin board. You can apply for these jobs online, with a link through to your resume. If a job is posted that corresponds to your job type we send you an email alert .
The Resume
You enter your own details into our template resume. (You can cut and paste from
a Word document.) You can choose whether or not you have your contact numbers displayed on the resume. You can upload a photograph, and as well as the online formatted resume you can upload your own personalised Word resume which employers can then download.
With your own login and password you have 24-hour access to your resume and diary availability, so you can alter and update them whenever
you like.
You will receive weekly emails letting you know which companies have viewed your
resume.
