posted this job on 01/27/10 Under the supervision of the Director, Publications and Marketing, the Marketing Coordinator will provide support to businesses in North America, encouraging and helping them to appropriately promote their relationship with the Rainforest Alliance and ensure the proper use of the Rainforest Alliance logo, verification mark and Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM seal.
In partnership with our programs, the Marketing Coordinator will provide guidance on the implementation of marketing strategies for the Rainforest Alliance and its programs and oversee the production of materials related to the promotion of products or services bearing the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal or verification mark.
Responsibilities:
Strategic marketing
• Assist the Director, Publications and Marketing, in guiding companies toward promoting their products in concert with the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal;
• Help to create and determine which methods and tools are needed for effectively raising recognition and understanding of the Rainforest Alliance logo, verification mark and seal;
• Support businesses in proper use of the Rainforest Alliance Certified seal and/or verification mark or logo; and,
• Assist in the development of marketing strategies that support the organization’s marketing and market development goals.
Campaigns and Messaging
• Contribute to the development of marketing and promotional campaigns in conjunction with clients and/or affiliates and Rainforest Alliance programs;
• Help to produce materials including PowerPoint presentations, Webinars; Web pages, tool kits and other materials to encourage companies to appropriately use and promote the Rainforest Alliance logo, verification mark and seal;
• Coordinate promotional projects in conjunction with companies, marketing and advertising firms; and
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field;
• 3-6 years of experience in developing promotional, marketing, and/or advertising campaigns;
• Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate in Spanish, French, German and/or other European language preferred;
• Strong research skills and resourcefulness;
• Comfortable speaking in front of diverse audiences;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and to manage projects competently and efficiently;
• Proven experience in juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines;
• Ability to plan ahead and collaborate with both internal and external colleagues with diplomacy;
• Budgeting and strong computer skills (MS Office); and
• Knowledge of and commitment to environmental issues and sustainability practices; environmental background strongly preferred.
